Description

This plugin provides Telnet client functionality inside Eclipse.  The plugin currently only supports a "dumb" style emulation. More sophisticated emulations are planned. The plugin does not support SSH.

How to use

The plugin uses the Eclipse Launcher concept for creating and opening Telnet  connections. The Eclipse Launcher (running man icon) is by default only visible in the toolbar of the Java Perspectives. But you can also add it to the other perspectives by customizing their toolbar (menubar > Window > Customize Perspective... > Other > Launch). If you have the launcher ready then you can define and open a new Telnet connections as follows:

How to define and open a Telnet connection:

  • Click on the down arrow of the launcher and select "Run..." -> the launch configurations window opens
  • Select the Telnet  category and create a new configuration
  • Click on Run button to open the connection -> a Telnet Editor page will be opened

How to close a Telnet connection

  • Close the editor page or 
  • Click on the disconnect icon Disconnect in the toolbar
